Under Nigel Pearson, Leicester city were fighting for their ‘Premier League’ lives last season. He brought ‘Leicester‘ up from the lower leagues and helped them in staying up. After that though, ‘Leicester‘ decided to appoint ex-Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri to take them forward. Since then Leicester have been almost unstoppable. Quetta toppled Peshawar

The first qualifier between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators went down to the wire right till the last ball of the match to decide who will be the first finalist of the inaugural Paksitan Super League (PSL).

Gems from the ‘Transfer Window’

The influx of television and sponsorship money has given ‘Premier League’ clubs greater leeway in the transfer market this season. Newly promoted sides Bournemouth, Watford and Leicester are using these funds to further improve their positions in the table. On the other hand, teams in the relegation zone are also investing these funds in the transfer market to save themselves from falling down in the ‘Championship’. PSL

Pakistan Super League which was a fantasy a couple of years back when this idea was coined by PCB chairman Naseem Ashraf but it is now the next big thing for Pakistan Cricket thanks to Najam Sethi and Shahryar Khan for resurrecting this idea to stage a international level domestic league as every Test playing nation (except Zimbabwe) have launched it’s own league even Bangladesh has done it before Pakistan.

Even this time PCB faced many hurdles in launching PSL as Pakistan is currently a no go area for foriegn players so it was a infeasible idea to play this league in Pakistan and UAE was staging MCL (Masters Champions League) at the same time. Qatar was considered as the second option for some time but than Emirates Cricket Board slotted in PSL with MCL.

The French introvert who ‘talked to the ball’:

He has been the greatest player of his generation. He spoke to the ball and maneuvered it in a way which became ambiguous to the ‘footballing world’. His antics in the 1998 FIFA world cup earned him a Ballon d’Or. This was just the beginning as he moved on to win FIFA’s footballer of the year ‘4 times’ and won the Champions League with Real Madrid.
