Three days and two sessions of total domination bowling out England in a day, then getting a healthy lead of 100 runs and then Pakistan did what they did in Leeds 2006, Galle 2009, Sydney 2010, Cape Town 2013 and now you can add Birmingham to that long list of matches in which we were ahead for most of the match and then gave away all the hard work in a matter of 2-3 sessions.
In all these matches the common denominator is our batting the word often associated with our batting is ‘Dramatic Collapse’ which has been proven over and over again, only 3% of the teams lose after a lead of 100 runs this stat can also prove that few teams loose a match from a position in which Pakistan was in Edgbaston Test.
Even in this successful Misbah era Pakistan fail to win a series in places like South Africa and now England, winning this series is now impossible but leveling the series at Oval can make Pakistan the number 1 Test side in the world (If India don’t beat West Indies by a margin bigger than 2-0 and Australia don’t win the Colombo Test) surely it will be the greatest achievement in Misbah’s glittering career.
Pakistan has missed this golden opportunity once to be the number 1 side, can they rectify their mistakes? can they win it for their people? can they win it for MIsbah?
