Liverpool has been Kloppified !!!

Every team needs a renaissance at some point in time and Jürgen Klopp certainly looks set to start it for Liverpool. The heavy metal loving manager is perhaps one of the most forward thinking managers in the game at the moment. He is a mentor for the youth, a motivator and someone who naturally brings out the best in teams. He truly is the messiah Liverpool have been looking for.  Following are some indicators of Liverpool’s revival:

Liverpool has moved on from Steven Gerrard:

Steven Gerrard was Liverpool’s poster boy for a long period of time and that was intimidating for managers. Due to this Brendan Rodgers had to put him in the center of his plans. Gerrard’s age was a problem though, as he wasn’t able to perform like he did in the past. Klopp has made sure that he changes those plans and has allowed many of his players to take up the mantle. This has allowed the likes of Dejan Lovren, Lucas and Jordon Ibe to flourish.

Away Form:

Klopp’s teams were always known for precision based counter attacks and choking teams to death with their intense pressing. Dortmund and even FC Mainz  were well versed in these methods under Klopp’s management. He seems to have incorporated the same lethal precision in Liverpool as well and his team has answered with three goals away at Stamford Bridge, four goals away at the Etihad and six goals away at Southampton.

Rodgers v Klopp:

Brendan Rodgers’ beliefs and preferred style of play was very similar to that being used by Klopp. That is why Klopp has found it easier to implement his methodologies. The only difference he has brought in this team is the hunger and the will to fight till the final whistle.

Liverpool’s midfield:

The addition of Roberto Firminio and James Milner has enhanced Liverpool’s midfield and Klopp has consistently found the right mix of creativity and physicality up till now. Phillip Coutinho seems to have grown into a pivotal role for Liverpool and his partnership with Firminio can possibly open the meanest of defenses. Furthermore, the numbers in midfield have grown as well with Lucas, Emre Can, Joe Allen, Adam Lallana all remaining fit. This has allowed Klopp to increase Liverpool’s winning rate this season from 27% to 64%.

To conclude, Jürgen Klopp has arrived with a purpose to wake up the sleeping giant at Anfield but stern tests are coming up ahead. Can he push Liverpool to the top, just like he did it with Dortmund? That remains to be seen.
