Pakistan v England, 3rd Test Sharjah

If 2010 was probably the lowest point in Pakistan’s cricket history, than climbing upto number 2 in the ICC Test ranking is the highest point in our Test cricket history and will be cherished for years to come without the home advantage and support of our home crowd it was all possible because of one man say what the critics and ex-players want to say about Misbah but this guy has achieved something none of them could ever imagined of he has brought stability and calmness in the team after the 2010 debacle which wrecked the team apart. He build a new team around him a blend of youngsters and veterans of Pakistani first class cricket.

Nevertheless England have shown plenty of guts against Pakistan this time the way they stood against a mighty Pakistani team in these conditions who have not lost a series in UAE under Misbah and have whitewashed teams like Australia and the English team which toured UAE in 2012 under the leadership of Andrew Strauss when they were ranked no.1 in the world.

There were moments in this series where England could have dominated Pakistan and the result should have been in the favor of the visitors, but the last day of the 3rd Test Pakistan reprises England 2012 nightmare against spin as the Pakistani spinners Malik Yasir and Zulfiqar exploited the conditions and ripped through the English batting line up before tea, defeat by a two-Test margin means England will be pushed to no. 6 in the Test rankings.

Cook has once again proved that he is the master in Asian conditions as he was the lone warrior all series long facing more than 900 balls in this series but even this individual effort wasn’t enough against a collective team effort.

Malik had a graceful exit from Test cricket with a 7 wicket haul. Was this the end of Pakistan’s most successful Test era under Misbah-ul-haq?hope so we will see him next summer leading Pakistani troops on English soil.

  • 76 wickets for Yasir Shah in 12 tests most by any bowler in these many matches in the last 100 years.
  • Misbah-ul-haq has now become the third most successful Asian captain with 20 wins behind Gangualy and Dhoni.

Pakistan won by 127 runs.
